Saber Community,
I can't confidently put our students, buses, and employees on the roads today. The rural roads have gotten worse. I've decided to cancel school. Please stay safe out there.
Dr. Dan Peterson, Superintendent
Saber Community,
There is a lot of uncertainty about what will happen with today's weather. At this point, I've decided to have a two-hour delay. Please continue watching your notifications, as this may change later in the morning. As always, I want to ensure all our students and employees are safe getting to school. Thank you, and as always, please stay safe out there.
Dr. Dan Peterson, Superintendent
We will update this post throughout the day as we get more information on other scheduled Central DeWitt activities. Please keep checking back! Here are cancellations for today so far:
‼️ Both 7th and 8th grade boys basketball games vs. Smart Intermediate have been cancelled. There will be no middle school athletic practices today either.
Saber Community,
We've been covered by a thin sheet of ice overnight, and I'm not comfortable putting our staff, students, and parents on the road to get to school. I've decided to cancel school today, Monday, January 22. Please plan accordingly and stay safe out there.
Dr. Dan Peterson, Superintendent
On Thursday, Mrs. Regenwether hosted a party for her students that graduated early this year. She, along with other teachers and administrators celebrated Ben Melvin, Olivia Melvin and Jesse Conner. Congratulations to all of you!

Reminder if you haven’t filled out this survey yet, please do so by Monday, Jan. 22! Your input is very valuable and will make a difference for Central DeWitt students!
In the past few months, we’ve been talking about Portrait of a Graduate and how, with your help, it will change the way we educate our students to ensure they are adequately prepared for the path they choose after graduation. We’ve shared ways you can be involved in the planning process and this survey is an opportunity for your voice to be heard!
This important survey is to gather your thoughts about the key deeper learning competencies Central DeWitt graduates need to be future-ready (to get to and through their post-secondary goals for college, career, civic, and personal engagement).
When taking the survey, please consider your desire for the types of people that live, learn, and work in your community. If you represent a business, please consider your organization's needs when hiring and retaining employees.
Community/Parent Survey: https://forms.gle/DTUYWSvwT5qcpmodA
We are also asking Central DeWitt alumni who graduated between 2017 and 2022 to fill out this survey: https://forms.gle/CcCposZq4GpVia9W9
This will help the district as we strive to develop a portrait of what our graduates should be able to do upon graduation. Thank you for taking the time to fill out the survey and for your willingness to help us develop the Central DeWitt Portrait of a Graduate!
Tomorrow the Central DeWitt Archery Club will be hosting its 2nd Annual Bullseye Tournament being held in the CDHS Competition Gym. There will be 423 archers from 16 schools competing. If you have never experienced an archery tournament before, check it out! We would love to have you come out and support our archers! Admission is $5/person (activity tickets / school ID's will not be honored). Concessions will be available. You can find archers line times here: https://nasptournaments.org/TournamentDetail.aspx?tid=11247
Let’s go, Sabers!

Congratulations to sophomore Shea McAleer, whose design, “Imagination,” was selected as the winner for this year’s Figge Factory T-shirt Design contest! His design will be the featured Figge Factory t-shirt sold in the museum store later this year.
Additionally, he received a free one-year household membership to the Figge, a $100 prize, and a free printmaking party for his friends/family (where they’ll learn how to print shirts they get to keep and enjoy pizza and snacks).
Shea's design was chosen over many designs from schools all over the Quad City Area! Shea is only the second Saber artist to achieve this awesome honor. Congratulations, Shea!
