This past Saturday, our CDHS Robotics team was one of seven teams from their league tournament in Bettendorf to qualify for the state tournament! The team won the Connect Award at the tournament, which led to their advancement. Now they prepare to face the most talented robotics teams in the state at the Extreme Arena in Coralville on Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, Mar. 1st. 💜💛 Saber Speech continues to shine! This season has been nothing short of spectacular for our talented performers, and their dedication, creativity, and hard work have paid off in a big way. Take a look: Julia Fielding and Hailey Fielding, the writers, directors, producers, and star of the short film, "Two Hundred Forty-Seven", along with their supporting cast of Faith Petersen, Allison Grager, and Camila Reyna, achieved top honors with the Iowa High School Speech Association as they received Outstanding Performer nominations at the State Large Group Speech Contest! The nomination earns them a trip to the Large Group All State Festival in Ames on February 22nd, where the group will celebrate their success, showcase the film in front of a special guest critic, and be presented with their award. The entire Saber Speech Team pulled off another incredibly successful weekend at the contest. They look forward to keeping the momentum going as they shift their focus to the individual events portion of the season next. For CDHS students interested in being a part of this year's play there are several ways you can get involved by joining the cast or crew! The play will be directed by the team of Allison Swanson and Shannon Edwards. Almost, Maine was almost produced in spring 2020, however was shut down during the Covid-19 pandemic. Central DeWitt sophomores and juniors have been busy the last two weeks learning about opportunities for the next school year. Interested students toured the DeWitt and Clinton Career Advancement Centers where they learned about the various Career Academies offered their junior and senior years of high school. Through the academies students can earn a semester to full year of college credit for free, get a head start on their education, and explore career opportunities. The Clinton Advancement Center offers students Agriculture, Automotive Tech, Construction Tech, Culinary Arts, Engineering Tech, Education, Healthcare, and Information Tech academies. The DeWitt Advancement Center offers students the chance to explore Agriculture, CNC Machining, Construction Tech, Healthcare, Information Tech, and Small Business Management.
